A marketing, digital and multimedia executive with a passion for instigating innovation and a laser focus on audience and results, Alonso brings over 15 years of experience to her leadership roles as a marketing, digital and multimedia professional and producer for Fortune 500 companies and entrepreneurial ventures.  As President of her consulting firm, Rosa Alonso Media (www.rosaalonsomedia.com), she works with corporations, non-profits and start-ups with a focus on marketing, mobile/digital technologies, digital/social media marketing, multimedia content development/distribution, sales development/growth initiatives and segment/cross-cultural (Hispanic, Multicultural, Millennial/Youth) and International intiatives . Brand and agency clients include: Digicel, Virgin Mobile/Sprint, Doritos, Universal Music, Farmer’s Insurance, Boost Mobile, McDonald’s, Toyota, Pfizer, Yumm brands (KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut), State Farm, Verizon/Verizon Wireless, ALMA DDB, GlobalHue, BBH NY, d expósito & partners, Tajín, ConAgra Foods, AARP, and the NBA. She appears regularly as resident tech expert for NBC Universal’s Telemundo/Telemundo NY popular programs, including the Emmy Award-winning Noticiero Telemundo and Acceso Total NY.

Alonso brings true 360 senior leadership to her work (Client, Agency, Media/Provider, Entrepreneur).  Prior to launching her companies, she was Senior Vice President at Edelman and led the agency’s award-winning segment practice, a multi-million dollar operation that specialized in segment marketing, including Hispanic, African American and Youth/Urban segment markets as well as strategic work with Edelman offices around the world on international initiatives. She led initiatives for major brands such as Dove, Burger King, Unilever, Delta Airlines and AstraZeneca pharma.  Prior to Edelman, she was Senior Director of International and Cross-cultural/Multicultural Marketing divisions at AT&T Wireless, where she led teams responsible for all phases of strategic planning, product development, marketing (online and offline), operations and local market/retail initiatives for Multicultural (Hispanic, African American, Asian American, Youth, Pre-Paid) and International marketing (General Market, B2B, In-country). Other corporate roles include: National New Business Development & Marketing Director, Univision; Sales Director, Time Inc./AOL Time Warner; Director, Retail Marketing, at Fidelity Investments and Dreyfus/Mellon Bank.

Among her many honors. Alonso received LISTA’s (Latinos in Information Science and Technology) “Latinas of Excellence Award” in 2015, the  “The Innovator” award in 2013 at the prestigious SXSWi (South by Southwest Interactive Festival) for her bilingual technology lifestyle blog “Rosa Alonso Digital” and was honored for her community service/ leadership with the prestigious Columbia University Alumni Medal in 2012 for her lifelong commitment to Barnard/Columbia University communities.

Alonso is a recognized executive, entrepreneur, industry expert, speaker and media personality. She has been featured extensively in the media (including NBC, Telemundo, CNN, Voice of America TV, Arise TV). Her recent talks and community activities include: panelist, AFR (Advertising Research Foundation) / Nielsen’s Programming Series Panel (2016); speaker, AWNY’s (Advertising Women of New York) Reboot, Recharge, Renew Conference (2016); moderator, 2015’s 15th Annual Horowitz Cultural Insights Forum’s Audience Matters: Engaging Multicultural, Multiplatform Millennial; Co-Chair, NALIP’s Media Summit; panelist, Digital Diversity/Viacom’s Content Strategy Salon; panelist, Columbia Business School Forum’s Leveraging New Technology and Media Channels in Multicultural Marketing; panelist, Harvard Business School’s Lifestreaming and Social Media Marketing Cyberposium. Alonso has been featured in several industry films, including the documentary Be Blogalicious, which recognized leaders in the digital/social space. She has also been honored for her community service and leadership. In 2012, she received the prestigious Columbia University Alumni Medal for her lifelong commitment to Barnard/Columbia communities.

Alonso received her B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University and her MBA from Columbia Business School.  She currently sits on the board of NALIP (National Association of Latino Independent Producers, a premier organization for content creators and media makers), serves on the boards of Girls in Tech NYC and is a member of AWNY (Advertising Women of NY). She served as Trustee on the board of Barnard College for 9 years and has been a member of advisory boards for many organizations, including The American Heart Association, Florida State University and Laureate International Universities. She has been a member of numerous industry organizations, including American Marketing Association, New York Women in Communications, Association of National Advertisers, and the Advertising Club of NY.  She regularly supports community leadership and empowerment organizations, such as the New America Alliance.
